Picnic Blitz

Publisher: MJ Games

Game Design: Alex Weldon

Players: 2-4

Age Recommended: 7+

Picnic Blitz Rules: N/A

What would happen if you took one of One Zillion Games' favorite games (Can't Stop) and tweaked it with ants and player interaction? You'd get Picnic Blitz!

Can't Stop and Picnic Blitz both involve moving pawns/ants along a track based on dice rolls, tracks that have differing lengths, but Can't Stop is an individual game.  Sure, you are racing against your opponents, but you can't do anything about what they are doing. In Picnic Blitz, you have some control over others' ants.

There is a picnic nearby and the ant race is on.  Your group of ants wants to get the most food - that is just basic survival science. With a roll of the dice you are off! Some paths are short, but they aren't worth as much. Sometimes you can get trapped underneath a pile of other ants.  Sometimes you might get to attack your opponent/s and move them backwards.

Picnic Blitz is compact, easy to set up, has fairly simple rules, and (most importantly) is fun to play. My guess as to why this is 7+ instead of younger is because of the small pieces (they're ants - what do you expect). That being said - just because a 6 year old can play it without any problems, that does not mean adults won't enjoy playing along with them.

One Zillion Games was provided with a review copy of Picnic Blitz  from MJ Games. The fact that a sample copy was provided, in no way influences our opinions of the game.

  1. We love Picnic Blitz! It's a fun and easy game to teach dinner guests that doesn't take 2 hours to play. Don't get me wrong, I love long and involved games too but not all our friends do! This game has enough strategy to make it fun but enough simplicity to make it accessible and fun for gamers and non-gamers alike!

  2. We have played Picnic Blitz so many times! It's such a fun game! We play it every month approximately. We have a lot of fun and laughter all the time! My mom gave this to our children previous Christmas a long with amber necklaces she bought abroad!
