__________

Wits & Wagers Family is just that, a family version of the game Wits & Wagers (click for our review).

The basic game play is the same:
  • a trivia question, with a numeral answer, is read aloud
  • each player writes down their guess
  • guesses are put in order from smallest to greatest
  • players get a second chance to make a guess if they think someone else's answer looks better

The two main differences are the type of questions and the wagering.
  • The questions are much more appropriate for kids; how many family members in the Incredibles? how many different kind of Webkinz were made?
  • The wagering is simplified.  The odds/payout (2:1, 3:1, 4:1) has been replaced by two different sized meeples (wooden people-like shapes used for games); the small meeple is worth one point, the large meeple is worth two points. Another thing this does is restrict any one player from completely running away with it.

I have a confession: I love meeples. As soon as we whipped out the meeples needed to play this game, I started singing a song. Apparently I sang it over and over again - to the point where the kids could sing it on their own (my apologies to Depeche Mode):

If you are looking for a game that the whole family can play together, we would highly recommend Wits & Wagers Family
